Amanda Papacoda Obituary

Papacoda, Amanda L.
Amanda (Mandy) Lee Papacoda, 60, of Meriden, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 24th, 2020. Amanda was born in Bradley Beach, NJ, on August 12th, 1959, to Helen Linda Daniels Rose and the late Edmund William Horrocks. She grew up at the New Jersey shore and graduated from Brick Township High School in 1977. Always hardworking, Amanda worked for The Asbury Park Press and the New Haven Register prior to starting the career she loved, as a restaurant manager.
Amanda had an amazing ability to take on any problem with a uniquely graceful stride. She was fierce in pursuing her lifestyle and wouldn't settle for anything less than her professional and personal goals. She held firm on this philosophy until the end. Her favorite times were spent with family, especially activities with her grandchildren, Liam and Madeline St.Hilaire. She also loved cooking for anyone, crocheting to add love and warmth to people's worlds, and epic karaoke car rides. Amanda loved the ocean and found great peace when she was around it. She also loved charter fishing and could easily make people laugh.
Family was everything to Amanda, and besides her mother and grandchildren, she is survived by her 98-year-old grandmother Frances Y. Daniels, her four loving children, Lindsey M. Genung, Stephanie L. Genung, Alex Papacoda, and Lorraine F. Papacoda; her siblings, Jason Berger, Edward Horrocks, Theodore Horrocks, Julia Leone, and John and Diana Minor.
A Private service will be held for Amanda at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Amanda's name to the American Lung Association

It’s now a little over a year since you passed and went to Heaven and I miss you more now than I ever have. But just know mommy that you are still the glue that holds our family together. I love you mommy and happy 1st year in heaven anniversary. It’s probably great for you but the pain here is real. It’s ok though, love you. TtyS.

The first time I met your mom was while Lorraine and Reid were moving into their apartment in Berlin. I was leaving as Amada arrived - she came over to my car and said, "Hi, I'm Amanda"; I said, "Nice to meet you, I'm Maureen" - and I drove away. I had no idea that the younger, beautiful woman was Lorraine's mom, I thought it was one of Lorraine's friends. We were able to laugh about our first meeting when Amanda joined us for Thanksgiving dinner the following year. I know Amanda wasn't offended but I'm still embarrassed. Your mom was a kind, giving, thoughtful person, her strawberry cake that she sent over the past Thanksgiving was the best I've ever had. She sent me flowers on 12/21 as a Happy Retirement gift - always thinking of someone else. We know she loved her family so, and she will always be missed.

My mother was the most beautiful, loving, hardworking, intelligent, funny and selfless woman I have ever known. And no matter what happened she always found a way to make sure that her family was taken care of. Even if it meant literally dragging herself to work 76 or 7 days a week, we always had a kitchen full of food, a cozy roof over our heads, all of our needs met,she always found a way to pull together the very best holiday and birthday celebrations for us no matter what was going on, and most importantly she was the very best confidant, advisor and friend a daughter could ever ask for. These past few years she was the one constant presence in my life. I had a very rough few years and needed a lot of guidance. I am so grateful that I was lucky enough to hit the jackpot with the two parents that I had. I just wish that I could have had more time with them. I would give literally ANYTHING to be able to hear another one of her stories from her childhood, enjoy one of her exceptional concerts, see her smile, have some of her famous cooking, run errands with her, or just be in her presence again. I miss you terribly mommy. Im trying to continue living because I know thats what she would have wanted for me. But nothing will ever heal the gigantic hole that is now missing from my heart I love you more than life itself mommy, and I know that you are enjoying your new life in heaven while still watching over us as my perfect guardian angel Ill definitely try to see the Northern lights for us still.. I love ❤ you . Rest easy mommy

I sadly never had the pleasure to get to know Amanda. But I do consider myself a good friend of Lorraine's, and anyone who raised such a wonderful, kind-hearted, loving and genuine person had to have been a pretty amazing woman herself.
I promise we'll take good care of your daughter

Amanda was a very special woman. I looked forward to the days she would bring Liam in to visit lorraine at work. She was a lovely open person who I immediatly felt comfortable with. The world lost a very special woman. My condolence to her family. Keep all of your wonderful memories close and I hope they help you heal in time. ❤

I understand that God calls special angels to come home to be with him. But we also need angels here on earth. And She was one of them. She was an amazing person mother lwho would do anything for the people she loved. I already miss her dearly and am so very proud that she was my mother. Rest easy mommy m. I love you ❤ kisses

My mom was the most beautiful, amazing, strong woman I know, and will ever know. She endured some of the most difficult obstacles that life could hurl at her, and she touched more people in her lifetime than I ever even knew. So many people have reached out and told me so many wonderful stories of how she touched them in one way or another. I dont know how Im going to move on from this, I know I will never fully move on, but I know that daddy is with you and that is extremely comforting. I will make sure that I follow your guidance when I ask for it, because I know you will always be here with me. I love you more than life. You are my heart. I love you! ❤
