Barrett G Bertolini died peacefully on September 28, 2025 in his home in Hendersonville, NC. He was born on April 12, 1943 in Portland, Maine to Guelfo Bertolini and Beverly Sault Bertolini.
He is survived by his wife, Charleen Bertolini, and stepchildren Victoria Stewart and Brian (Kelly) Stewart, and step-grandchildren Avery and Matthew Stewart. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses Leslie (Christopher) Whitley and Mark (Mariann) Bertolini. His nieces and nephew are Alivia Bertolini Libby, Anona and Rosalind Whitley, Shelly Corcoran Henry and Christopher Corcoran. As well as his two special brothers-in-law Sherman (Diane) Corcoran and David (Elizabeth) Duval. He was predeceased by his first wife Roxianne Corcoran Bertolini, and by his stepson Kevin Stewart.
He was a graduate of the University of Vermont, and received his Master's degree from Northeastern University. He continued his desire to learn by taking numerous post-graduate courses at the University of Bridgeport. He was a guidance counselor at Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge, CT for 30+ years. Her received numerous accolades from families and peers. He dedicated his life to helping all those around him.
He was an avid gardener, traveler and reader, also loved primitive camping. In recent years, he has been a dedicated animal foster with his wife. He was known for his quiet dignity, outstanding wit and kindness.
He will be buried in the family plot at Hope Cemetery, Barre, Vermont, which dates to his grandparents, Martino and Giovanina Bertolini. He was always a Vermonter at heart, and he is going home after a richly-lived life. Family was the most important part of his life. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Thank you to Mountain Aging Partners and Four Seasons Hospice for their help and kindness during the final legs of his journey. To honor his lifelong commitment to and love of animals, the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his memory to Laps & Naps for Senior Cats, 151 NC Highway 9, Suite B167, Black Mountain, NC 28711.

Bert was a kind, gentle soul and foster animals felt safe with him. I have pictures of foster and adopted cats sleeping on and around him. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Bert was our neighbor on Central Avenue in Spring Glen Hamden,CT in the 70´s-80´s. He was a great guy who I remember fondly growing up. RIP
