Bruce Harold Dahlberg

DAHLBERG, BRUCE HAROLD Bruce Harold Dahlberg, 87, of Guilford, died suddenly on Thursday, June 6. Born September 11, 1925 in New Haven. He was the son of the late Nils and Marion Gamache Dahlberg. He was a proud WWII veteran, joining the US Navy at age 17 in March, 1943. He served in the Pacific aboard the Light Cruiser USS Mobile (CL63), He was honorably discharged in 1946 following the war's end. He retired from the United Illuminating Company in 1987 after 38 years. Bruce enjoyed spending time working on the home he built in North Guilford and on his beloved property. He was an avid New England Patriots fan and enjoyed annual trips to his Navy Reunions. A talented artist, he liked to work in pastels, creating many works during his retirement. Nothing gave him more joy than spending time with his family. Bruce was a member of the North Guilford Congregational Church. Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carol Gordon Dahlberg; sister, Sherlee Jacobs Boegner of Falmouth-Foreside, ME; Daughter, Deborah Balletto and husband Vincent of Orlando, FL; son Dean Dahlberg and wife Susan of Bellingham, MA; four grandchildren, Nicholas Dahlberg of Branford, Jeanette Dahlberg of New London, Philip Balletto and wife Lisa, and Catherine Balletto of Orlando, FL. Three Great-grandchildren, Tessa Dahlberg, Connor and Leah Balletto. Predeceased by his eldest son, Gordon Bruce Dahlberg. Friends may call Thursday, June 13 from 4 - 7 pm at Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Graveside Funeral Services will be held privately.
