Bruce Thompson Obituary

The Honorable Bruce W. Thompson
July 30, 2022
The Honorable Bruce W. Thompson, retired New Haven Superior Court Judge, died Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Apple Rehab in Guilford, CT. He was the beloved husband of Marjorie (Pflug) Thompson.
Judge Thompson was born January 3, 1943, in New Haven, CT son of the late Harry and Anne (Mulrine) Thompson. He was a graduate of Boston College and The University of Connecticut Law School. He was a man who really lived and never compromised. He was a gifted hockey player and an enthusiastic fan. He could be found at the rail at all Yale home games. He was an avid fisherman and if you could awake early enough you could join him. He was a purist who preferred lures to bait.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Dana (Michael) Ajello of North Haven and Gregory (Kelly) Thompson of Branford; his brother Keith Thompson of Branford and his sister Leslie (Ted) Peters of Branford. He was immensely proud of his grandchildren, T.J. (Kimberlin), Alyssa and Samantha Ajello and Olivia and Finn Thompson. He and his wife rescued Golden Retrievers and Lily (their latest and greatest) gave him tremendous comfort and happiness as he lived out his days.
There are no services planned as were his wishes.
Donations can be made to: Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue, Inc., 110 Chapin Road, Hudson, MA 01749. Thank you to all the wonderful friends who called; checked in and stopped by. Lewy Bodies is a horrific, little-known disease. If you meet someone dealing with it- give them and their caretaker a hug.

Bruce was an awesome person. The time I spent with him was either when we were devouring meimei's delicious mac n' cheese or on his boat as a struggled to catch any fish. Nevertheless, the time I've spent with bruce and his grandkids, Liv and Finn, I enjoyed immensely. I am so grateful to be as close as I am with the Thompson Family. I am so sorry for your loss; he will surely be missed.

Marge, Dana, Greg,
I am sorry to hear of Bruce´s struggles and now passing. I have so many great memories of our times at Bruce & Johnson´s Marina with all of you. I even spent a weekend shark fishing in Montauk With Bruce and always think of how much fun we had. If my wife Diane were still with us she would be shedding tears uncontrollably, thinking of the early days at Shay, Del Sole and Thompson. Hugs to you all and hope we might see you at sometime.

I knew him only as a Judge, but remember him as one of the kindest, nicest, most humble person I ever had the pleasure of meeting. I will always remember him with great fondness.

What a wonderful person and Judge. You will always be remembered as a dignified kind person with a sharp analytical mind.
