Carol Hackett

HACKETT, CAROL Carol Hackett, 76, a lifelong West Haven resident entered into rest on May 2, 2013. For fifty-three years, she was the loving wife of William Hackett and a daughter of the late Frank & Dorcas Martin Little. In addition to her husband, Carol leaves five children Donna (Coleman) Walsh, Kathleen (Robert) Reiss, William (Mary) Hackett, Marjorie Hackett and Ellen (Daniel) Collins, all of West Haven. Nanny was adored by her grandchildren Jane & Coleman Walsh, Kevin, Shaun, Melanie & Robert Reiss, Brianna Hackett, Erin, Daniel & Riley Collins. Carol was the sister of Marjorie Kirchofer, the late Dorcas Cox & Frank Little. A lifelong West Haven resident, Carol graduated from West Haven High School in 1955. Throughout the years, she was involved in countless West Haven events and activities, especially in the Irish community. She was a member of the West Haven Irish-American Club. In 1994, Carol and her husband Bill were honored as the Irish Couple of the Year by the club. In 1996, they were honored by the City of West Haven in the same capacity. For over 30 years, Carol was a member of the Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee. Carol served as its' treasurer for 13 years. In 2008, she received the Parade Committee Appreciation Award for her hard work & dedication. Carol was active in the Colonial Park Association, in her neighborhood, where she coordinated the annual Christmas Eve Santa deliveries for over 35 years. Carol welcomed all into her home, especially the front porch. She loved to host parties and she loved her family gatherings. Holidays at her house were a must. She also loved to travel to her favorite places-Ireland, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and Saratoga. The hours for visitation will take place TUESDAY from 4 to 8 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. On WEDNESDAY, friends are asked to go directly to Our Lady of Victory Church at 11 o'clock for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
