Caroline (Nazario) Sagnella, 96, of New Haven, passed away June 28, 2023 at Apple Rehab, with her family by her side. She is together again with her husband, Peter Sagnella (2000). Caroline was born January 24, 1927 in New Haven to Alphonse and Angelina (Esposito) Nazario. She is survived by her loving and devoted sons, Joseph Sagnella Sr. of New Haven and Peter Sagnella (Patricia) of East Haven along with her grandchildren she adored, Christy Sagnella, Joseph Sagnella, Jonathan Sagnella, Peter Sagnella, and Julianne Derosiers (Mike) and one great-grandson, Leland Derosiers. She is also survived by her siblings, Peter Nazario (Tillie), and Alphonse Nazario (Judy) along with many nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Jenny Nazario.
Caroline is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Peter Sagnella and siblings, Ralph Nazario, Loretta Esposito, Louise Esposito, Donato "Danny" Nazario and John "Red" Nazario.
Caroline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She truly enjoyed the years she spent working at Morrison's in New Haven, St. Raphael's Hospital, the US Coast Guard in New Haven and CT Hospice in Branford, were she started as a volunteer, working there for over 27 years into her 90s. She was a true "people person" who made friends wherever she went. She will be dearly missed by all.
Family will receive friends on Monday, July 3, 2023 from 9 A.M. until 10:30 A.M.at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Her funeral procession will then leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a 11 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Bernadette, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven, with Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.

Carol's obituary was well written. I remember Caroline when she worked at Caporales on Blatchley Ave & I remember her mom & dad sitting on their porch on Clay St back in the day. She was really a people person & a well liked person everywhere she went. RIP Carol, say hi to Loretta & your mom & dad from the boys from Clay St
