Marge, Scott, Dan and family - We are so sorry to hear about your loss. Charlie was a wonderful man with a heart of gold. His family always came first and he loved all of you so very much. Through all our years in youth hockey, Charlie was always there for his team, and the league. Whenever hockey comes up in our conversations, Charlie is the coach that we all remember and love. Our prayers are with all of you during this very difficult time.

Long before "high fives" you'd get the Charlie Burns "hockey shoulder bump". It was Charlies way of honoring you that you were one of his teammates. I knew Charlie in his second career, which in my mind which was just as filled with achievements as the ones he had on the ice. As a supervisor at Sikorsky he had the responsibility to make sure the many workers had everything they needed to machine and assemble the aircraft. Everyone knew Charlie, a true gentleman, who always spoke kindly of everyone. Charlie would roll up his sleeves and get involved in every project, working side-by-side with his team members. Some of the things that will stick with me forever, were the way he walked with short steps. We would walk at lunch time and I would tease him about this and realized that it was from spending so much time on hockey skates. The other trait he had was when he was really focused on a detailed task, his tongue would stick out the side of his mouth. I would joke with him and say "Charlie put your tongue back", he'd laugh. When I told my wife about Charlies tongue, she laughed and said I do the same! Charlies left us with the greatest gift of all....his memory.

Dear Marge, Scott and Danny,
Every time I see a Christmas tree, I think of your family, and the way you had a decorated tree in every room for Christmas. That is just one of the many wonderful memories I will always have when I think of Charlie, and our days together as members of the hockey family. He had a passion for life, and it was infectious. He was a wonderful mentor to the youth, both on and off of the ice. We were all so blessed to have known him. He left a piece of himself with everyone he met, and I for one am very grateful.
With love,
Donna Spose

I can't really find the words to express my sorry at Charlie's passing. Fifty years ago he, and you Marge, changed the direction of my whole life. Both of you saw my potential that I didn't realize I had and helped me develop it. Our times together have always been a source of my joy, smiles and motivation. Where I am today and the successes I've achieved stem from your insight, love and friendship.
