Cheryl Nettleton Obituary
October 16, 2025
Cheryl Lee Nettleton passed away at Waterbury Hospital ICU on October 16, 2025 after a heart event at home several days earlier. She was born in New Haven on June 13, 1957 and grew up in East Haven, Wolcott and Waterbury graduating from Wolcott High School.
She was predeceased by her father Nelson "Jack" Nettleton and mother Joyce Noble Nettleton and stepmother Violet Stone Nettleton.
She is survived by her brother Jack Nettleton and his wife Claudia Nettleton of Guilford. Also survived by 6 nephews, several aunts and uncles, and many cousins. Cheryl worked at Stop and Shop in Waterbury the past 30 years retiring last year.
Cheryl will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She is described by everyone as a "sweetheart" who was soft spoken always concerned about family and friends and never cussed or spoke badly about anyone.
She was involved in the Connecticut Special Olympics which she enjoyed and looked forward to, winning numerous medals in many events.
She will also be dearly missed by her roommate Amanda. Her family would like to acknowledge and thank her many caregivers over the years especially Renee, Lisa, Erica, Reese, Deo, Darlene, Tiffany, Sasha, Mariah, Brenda, Liz, Salome, and Sasha.
Funeral services will be held graveside in East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven CT on Friday October 24th at 12:00 Noon. The Celentano Funeral Home is assisting the family.

It was a pleasure working with Cheryl during the 30+ years we both worked at Stop & Shop. She was always friendly and kind to everyone there including fellow workers and customers. She also knew the names of most of the customers, a great trait that did not go unnoticed by all. She spoke fondly of her family, her roommate and her workers at home. Many of us will miss her.
