Chevai Harris Obituary
Chevai Harris, 46, of West Haven, CT, entered into eternal life on Saturday, March 15, 2025. He was born and raised in New Haven, CT, to Anthony Harris and the late Andrea Rankins. Cherished father of Navoni Harris, Chevai is also survived by his sisters, Jameka Sayles and Toni Harris (Reginald) Quinerly, and several cousins, aunts, and uncles. Chevai was a devoted uncle and godfather, and a basketball coach and mentor to countless young people. A veteran of the US Army, he served his country with honor and continued his service as a 20+ year employee of the VA Hospital. Chevai's legacy of love and leadership will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Chevai's life will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Wayfaring Ministries, 29 Marne Street Rear, Hamden, CT, at 11:00 a.m. Viewing in Church from 10-11 a.m. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.

Chevai was so helpful to me when I first started at the VA nearly 20 years ago. He was kind and we had a lot of laughs. I haven´t seen him in years, but he left an impact on me and I thought about him often because of the fun and laughs we had during those earlier years in our careers when we were figuring out our jobs and the system. I am saddened to hear of his passing. May his memory be a blessing to all who loved him.
