I only just learned of Connie´s passing . . So very sorry to hear. I knew the Millane family, and did business with them in the 70s and `80s. I truly enjoyed our relationship, and always admired Connie´s dedication to his family. We played tennis on numerous occasions, and I will always remember Sharon´s wedding, replete with crossed cadet swords. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family . . . I know he will be missed.

Connie once spoke to me about the time his Dad emigrated from Ireland to the USA. His father later founded Millane Nurseries. He said his father was stern and demanding but it was exactly what was needed at the time. Those same traits continued with Connie until he mellowed in old age. But he never forgot how to work hard. One day he asked me to help him transplant about 10 6 ft high shrubs he had brought from the family Cromwell nursery store in the nursery van to the Madison Winter Club. We made a 2nd trip to the store, returned, and then planted another 7 (after 1st digging out and removing the existing shrubs) upon returning.
I considered it a pleasure to be able to help him.

Sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. Brought back so many happy memories of our growing up on Prospect Hill Road. Your Dad and Mom always welcomed all of us to join in whatever was going on. Must admit that babysitting the three of you could be a challenge.. but only in a good way! Thanks for sharing your family and those special times with me. I'll always remember the great guy that he was. RIP good friend and neighbor.
