Daniel M. "Danny" Williams, 50, of Durham beloved husband of Gina DeFonzo Williams passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on April 27, 2025 surrounded by his family at Yale New Haven Hospital. Loving father of his two sons, Rocco and Gianni Williams. His devotion for his children was immeasurable, and he had an unwavering love for them. Brother of Christina (Andrew Izzo) Rivera of Bristol, Joseph (Margaret) Williams of Branford, Matthew Williams of Woodbridge and Evan Rivera of West Haven. Uncle of Margaret, Joseph and Jack Williams. Danny is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and many who have gone before him. Danny was born in New Haven on October 15, 1974 son of Eva Morrissey (Oscar) Rivera of West Haven and the late Joseph A. Williams. Son-in-law of Linda Corraro. Stepson of Cynthia (Joseph) Giuletti of Woodbridge. He grew up in East Haven where he played football and baseball. He was a friend to everyone he met and would give you the shirt off his back. He made everyone he met feel like family and always had a story to tell. He was also an avid Yankee fan.
His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven SATURDAY morning May 3, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in St. Vincent de Paul Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Family and friends may call SATURDAY morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the scholarship fund for Rocco and Gianni Williams at M & T Bank, 809 North Colony Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492. Rest easy Danny, love you man. Great times in high school and you were the first person to great me when I returned home at 2am at the diner. You literally welcomed me back with open arms. You wore your heart on your sleeve and I'll never forget you. Gonna miss you man.

To Gina & family, I´m so sorry to learn of Danny´s passing. I knew him since we were little playing at Memorial field. Over the years I´d run in to him & he always gave a friendly hello with a hug. He was a good one. I´m terribly sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace.

I lived in the same neighborhood as Danny in East Haven, and I remember him as very sweet and polite. Even though he was only a few years older than my two children, he always told me that he would watch over them on the school bus going to Tuttle School. My sympathies to his family.
