David Brantley Obituary

BRANTLEY, DAVID, JR. David Brantley Jr. 79 of New Haven, CT passed away on March 20, 2011. Born to the late Dave Sr. and Lucy Brantley in Picken, Ark. on February 17, 1932. David had a love for gardening, fishing for porgies and a talent for storytelling. He was retired from Eli Whitney Technical School where he was a custodian for 35 years. He leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Lucille Brantley; sons, Timothy (Denise) Brantley of Ellenwood, GA, Jack (Olivia) Brantley of Seymour, CT; daughters, Mildred Belton, Delores, Jacqueline and Lucinda Brantley all of New Haven, CT, Patricia (Steve) Gamble and Francine Barnes both of Greeleyville, SC; brothers James (Melody), Herman (Veronica) Brantley both of New Haven, CT, Napoleon Brantley of West Haven, CT, Oscar & Butch Bullard both of Ark; sisters, Versie Johnson of McGhee, Ark., Dorothy Thomas of St. Louis, MO and Dorothy Bullard of Ark.; 25 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a son, David Brantley III, 4 brothers, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A celebration of life will take place on Monday March 28, 2011 at 11AM Union Temple UFW Baptist Church, 54 Platt Street, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Monday at the church from 9-11AM. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Service by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06511.
