David Gagne' Obituary

David E. Gagne'
August 15, 2024
David Edward Gagné, of Northford, left this plane tragically and abruptly, Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband, best friend and partner of Anatar Marmol-Gagné and beloved "papa" to their furry baby, Logan. David was born in New Haven on May 25, 1968, son of David A. Gagné of Northford, and the late Cynthia Helminski Gagné. He grew up in Branford and graduated from Branford High School. He worked as a bicycle mechanic for Zane's Cycles in Branford for more than 25 years. David, a.k.a. Elm City Dave, loved everything with wheels, and began this journey as a rad professional freestyle BMX rider in the '80s. He was the founder of the Your Scooter Sucks Scooter Club, and later founded, and was active leading member of Elm City Vintage. Dave was well-known in the '90s as Gonzo when he photographed iconic Punk and Hardcore Bands. His photographs have been used by bands and have been displayed all over the country. Avid lover of "Old Junk" as he called it, be it vintage scooters, vintage cars, vintage lunchboxes and vintage robots. Maker, metal worker, innovator, carpenter and lovable trouble maker, Dave was beloved by his wife, family, his friends, as well as the maker, scooter, vintage car, puppet and music community. Dave loved life and lived it to its fullest. Elm City has suffered a deep and immeasurable loss to be felt for decades.
