Frederick A. (Rick) Parsons, III
January 16, 2025
Thursday, January 16, 2025. Frederick A. Parsons III (Rick), 83, longtime resident of Fairfield, the Lordship section of Stratford and more recently of Clinton, passed away at St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven. Rick was born in Bridgeport, CT on January 26, 1941, son of the late Frederick A. Parsons, Jr. and Pauline Boxwell Parsons, and the father of sons Rich Parsons of San Francisco, CA (Romyl), Doug Parsons of Morton, PA (Sharon), and Charles Parsons of Norwich, CT.
For 35 years he was the loving husband of Susanne Costello Scherer Parsons, and stepfather to daughters Tiffany Scherer Persechini of Falmouth, MA (Dan), Heidi Scherer Bartolotta of Madison, CT (Chris), and Kirsten Scherer Kozub of Branford, CT (John). He is also survived by his grandchildren Zachary, Taylor, Kelsey and Colin Persechini; Chris, Maggie and Katie Bartolotta; Isabella, Meaghan, and Ellie Reynolds; Nicky Parsons; and his great grandson, Jackson Persechini. Rick was predeceased by his sister Polly Lou Parsons in May, 1997.
After graduating from The Taft School in 1958 and The Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania in 1963, Rick began his career at Bridgeport Metal Goods in 1963 while honorably serving in the US Air National Guard. In 1967 he transitioned to being a Financial Advisor, and he spent the next 32 years working in that capacity at White, Weld & Co, then Meryl Lynch, Blythe Eastman Dillon & Co, Paine Webber and finally UBS before retiring in 1999 to spend more time with his family and grandchildren.
Rick followed many professional and college sports throughout the years, and he was a particularly devoted fan of UCONN men's and women's basketball. He was also an avid tennis and volleyball player in his younger years. Rick's passion for following the financial markets continued right through his retirement, and he would spend a good part of each day watching financial reports on TV and keeping up with reading and research. Rick loved growing up on the shoreline of Connecticut, enjoying the change of seasons and watching the wildlife and waterfowl that visited the ponds and marshes outside his window. Above all, Rick's greatest pleasure came from his love for his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved nothing more than listening to the stories and escapades of his family.
