Coach D. touched the lives of so many players throughout his long and accomplished coaching career including my own. He loved the game of football and he passed that love, knowledge, and enthusiasm down to all his players. Coach knew how to prepare you for the task ahead, gave you confidence and encouragement in accomplishing that task, and made you feel special whatever the outcome.

I have such great memories of George and I growing up together. From 1959 - 1962 we attended St Aedan's Grammar School and were Alter Boy's at the church. We were either at his house or my house for weekend sleepovers. We used to customize model cars. He had the first color T.V. in the neighborhood. I remember the first time we watched it together, NBC and the Peacock. We graduated from St. Aedan's in 1962. He went to Fairfield Prep High School. I went to Notre Dame High, West Haven CT. They were all boy's schools. He would take the train to school and had great stories about being on the train with the Lauralton Hall High School girls. We were quite jealous. We parted ways again in 1966, he to UCONN and I to Providence College. We graduated in 1970. I went into the Army. He was lucky to avoid the Draft with Student Deferments! We re-connected again in 1975 when I began my career at Southern CT State University as the Coordinator, Veterans & Military Affairs and he was coaching. After he left to begin his illustrious career I'd show new Southern coaches pictures of George and I as kids. They told me he was the best "X" and "O" coach in the country. As Georges parents passed away Andrew and Mark made sure that they sat at the same table with me at the receptions after burial services begging me for stories about their dad growing up. We were rabid DOO WOP music fans and we would ride our bikes to the local radio station to watch the D.J.'s. One day we were in the car together and the radio station kept playing Green Onions by Booker T. & the M.G.s over and over again. The D.J. had locked himself out of the studio. Pro Wrestling was big back then and we would go to matches at the iconic New Haven Arena. Haystacks Calhoun, Andre the Giant and Gorgeous George to name a few. George and some of our St. Aedan' s buddies would hold wrestling matches in the gym. Good-by my friend.

I had the pleasure of working with Barb at EA in Manchester, CT.

I met George multiple times. He was one of the sweetest souls I have ever met. Best Pizza maker and host extraordinaire. His smile & laugh was contagious.
