Helen Dear Obituary
Helen Troy King Dear, 87, entered into eternal rest on Wed., Oct. 6, 2021. She was the widow of late Marsene Dear, Sr. Mrs. Dear was born in Greenville, NC on Aug. 8, 1934, to the late James Arthur King and Martha Henryhan Hawkins. Helen majored in Early Childhood Education and graduated from South Central Community College, University of Massachusetts, Eastern Connecticut State University, and received her Sixth Year Degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Mrs. Dear was a devoted educator for New Haven Board of Education for over 20 years, retiring in 1997. In retirement, she continued her ownership and teaching at Henryhan Inc. Dear Day Care until 2004. Helen was a devoted Christian and a proud member of Mount Zion Seventh-Day Adventist Church since 1961.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Marsene Dear Jr. (Sharon), Eric U. Dear, Kelvin L. Dear, Sr. (Michelle), Jonathan K. Dear Sr.; daughters, Geiselle M. Dear and Pamela T. Dear-Cunningham (Marvin); 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Peggy K. Jones; and several nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Reginald B. Dear; and sister Jean K. Willoughby.
A celebration of Helen's life will take place on Fri., Oct. 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Zion Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 64 Marlboro St., Hamden, CT. The viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. Services by Howard K. The best thing my mother ever did was to meet Helen Dear and all of her children. I will love her as long as I live. She is the sweetest person you could ever meet-loving and kind! She is resting along with my mother, waiting for the return of YAHSHUA! I plan to meet her soon! Blessings to all of her children with so much love!

Dear Pam and family- My deepest condolences to you all. I didn´t know your mom for long but I knew the second I met her that she was a special lady, so loving and kind. I´ll always remember her birthday celebration that I got to share with you and how she was always thinking of others by sending out cards to let them know she was thinking of them.
