This is a lovely tribute for a wonderful, kind, intelligent, man who topped off all of his great qualities with a great sense of humor. Peace to all of you!

I only occasionally read the obits, and today am both saddened and surprised to read about Mr. Smernoff. I worked part time at New Haven Tobacco while I was attending Albertus Magnus College, back in 1967. Your Dad, Grandfather, great Grandfather was the most terrific "boss" anyone could hope to have. He was quick-witted, and smart, with just the right amount of devil make care.
You are blessed to have had him in your lives for so long. I wish you all God's peace.
