DEFILIPPO, IRENE “HONEY” Irene “Honey” DeFilippo, age 87, of Shelton, entered into rest on Friday, January 1, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of 62 years to Joseph DeFilippo. Mrs. DeFilippo was born in Shelton, on October 26, 1928, daughter of the late Myron and Anna (Chervenak) Plaskon and was a lifelong Shelton resident. She was a graduate of the Shelton High School Class of 1946. Mrs. DeFilippo started her career as a teller at the Derby Savings Bank and worked her way to the Vice President before her retirement. Mrs. DeFilippo served on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley, Valley United Way and the Hewitt Memorial Hospital. She is the beloved mother of Gary J. DeFilippo and his wife Charlene, and Diana McNeil and her husband Chad, sister of, Dorothy DiPaulo and her husband Dominic and Mary Young. Mrs. DeFilippo is the loving grandmother of Erica and Thomas McNeil, Gary DeFilippo, Jr. and Christina Tarabishy and her husband Raja. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who affectionately called her “Aunt Honey”. Mrs. DeFilippo is predeceased by her brothers, Michael, Steven and John Plaskon, and her sister Helen Baranowsky. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Her panahida service will be at 4:00 p.m. On Wednesday, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Three Saints Orthodox Church in Ansonia. Her burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
