Jean Margaret Pyne, age 87, of North Haven, passed away on March 13, 2025. Born in New Haven on January 16, 1938, Jean was the daughter of the late Thomas Pyne Sr. and Margaret (English) Pyne, and the sister of the late Thomas Pyne Jr.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Joan Pyne of Bethany; her nephews, Michael Pyne and his wife Lisa of Wallingford, and Matthew Pyne and his wife Kimberly of Marblehead, MA; and her niece, Maureen Isleib and her husband Robert of Durham. Jean also leaves behind several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Jean lived in New Haven until 1990, when she moved to Hamden, and later settled in North Haven. She was a dedicated administrator at the Redevelopment Agency for the City of New Haven and a longtime organizer of the New Haven Road Race.
In her final years, Jean was blessed with the care and kindness of many special caregivers, both while living at home and as a resident of The Landing of North Haven. Her family is forever grateful for the compassion the Opal aides provided.
Friends may visit with her family at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Tuesday, March 18th, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., prior to her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rita's Church, 1620 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
