John W. Ciesla Sr., 88, of Milford, formerly of New Haven, beloved husband of the late Barbara Capuano Ciesla for 61 years, passed away on March 1, 2021 at Middlesex Health Shoreline Medical Center. John was born on January 21, 1933 in New Haven, a son of the late Thomas and Nellie Wnek Ciesla. He was a graduate of Boardman Trade School, proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and worked as an electrician with IBEW Local 90 for 40 years until retiring. Some of John's greatest pleasures included golfing, bowling, watching UConn Basketball and the Boston Red Sox. John is survived by his children John (Kim) Ciesla Jr. and Thomas Ciesla; six grandchildren Laura, Lisa, Jennifer, Ryan, Thomas Jr. and John; two great grandchildren James and Liam as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anna Guanieri, Helen Docknevich, Jean Dobek, Joseph, Walter and Thomas Ciesla.
Family and friends may call at the LUPINSKI FUNERAL HOME, INC. 821 State Street in New Haven Saturday morning from 8:30 to 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Stanislaus Church at 10. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are required for all services.
