John Dacunto Obituary

Dacunto, Jr., John
John Anthony Dacunto, Jr., 50, of Guilford passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at CT Hospice. John was born and raised in Fair Haven. He was the beloved son of the late John Dacunto, Sr. and Grace (Fusco) Dacunto. He is survived by his wife Lisa Wilson of Guilford and his two children Geno and Sabrina Dacunto of New Haven. John was a 1985 graduate of Eli Whitney and a member of local 777 plumbers and pipe fitters for many years. John was a longtime friend of Jimmy K., an avid fisherman, and diehard Yankees and Cowboys fan. He was passionate about music, and played the drums. John was at his happiest when he was able to tend to his garden, and prepare a tremendous meal for his family and friends. John's presence was larger than life, his voice alluded joy. Please join us to celebrate Johnny's life on February 18, 2018 from 12-4 p.m. at the Annex Club in New Haven.

Hi John! Everyone always hopes that their life makes a difference to someone while they are `earth-bound. I just wanted to remind you that your purpose, regarding others, was fulfilled!! In a big way! You told me once that I was your friend, with a capital F! It was sincere and heartfelt. I cried and you chuckled. You told me, with a big smile on your face,"Hey, that´s a good thing!" I laughed. It sure is! Miss you my friend.

Dear Lisa, Geno & Sabrina,
Kevin and I are so very sorry to hear about John. We have very found memories of him. We remember him pushing Sabrina in a carriage and seeing Geno walking beside them at the mall or around. John would come over every week and Jam out with Kevin. It would be so loud I would have to leave the house while they played. John loved the garden we had in North Haven. He came over at 5 in the morning to gather the squash flowers. It was quite a sight to look out the window and see him gathering all the squash flowers. Another great memory was when he came to the summer cottage in East Haven and gathered bushels of clams. He was so thrilled to get some many clams. The joy on his face and how much he loved life will always be remembered and never forgotten. May the good times always remain in your hearts.

I miss my friend. Every Tuesday we used to go out for ice cream. We would take turns treating each other. Such a great man. His spirit will live on.

Johnny helped so many people that it would be impossible to estimate the positive effect he had on humanity. A true Everyman, he was hilariously funny, brilliantly smart a stellar cook an intuitive musician and he treated everyone like an equal.
My deepest sympathy to you Lisa, Geno and Sabrina. John has left a hole on the planet that will never be filled. I will always remember him and I will keep his memory alive.
