74-year-old Branford resident John C. Guest died August 18, 2023 at the VA Medical Center in West Haven, CT after a long battle with lung cancer
At his request no service will be held.
Mr. Guest was born January 20, 1949 in Hamden, CT to the late Robert and Edwina Guest
John graduated from Eli Whitney Technical School as a mechanical draftsman and was employed by the Armstrong Rubber Co briefly as a mechanical draftsman. He then enlisted in the US Army. John received his Connecticut Veterans Wartime Service Medal for his tour in Vietnam. After returning John held various jobs landing and retiring from the US Postal Service. He worked at the Southern Connecticut P&DC in Wallingford, CT.
"Uncle Johnny" was the center of attention of all the Holiday or special occasions as he enjoyed telling or listening to stories with his niece and nephews at his brother Don and sister-in-law Alberta's house. He jokingly reminded them that if they didn't have biscuits and Le Sueur Peas he wasn't coming. John enjoyed his frequent breakfasts at a diner with his brother Robert. His favorite throughout his life was sitting and talking or eating with his extended family the Ruggiero family.
John is survived by his brothers Robert Guest of New Haven and Donald (Alberta) Guest of North Branford. He is also survived by his niece and many nephews.
He was predeceased by his precious daughter Erica Lee Guest of Gun Barrel City Texas and his nephew / godson Donnie Guest of East Haven.
