John F. Napierkowski, Sr. "Mr. Nap"
John F. Napierkowski, Sr. "Mr. Nap" of East Haven passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side November 11, 2025, in Yale New Haven Hospital. Devoted husband to the late Joan Leary Napierkowski, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage. John was born in New Haven December 15, 1937, a son of the late Joseph and Anastasia Pawlowicz Napierkowski. A proud Navy veteran, he served aboard the USS Boston before beginning a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service where he worked for 28 years and retired as a Tour Superintendent. He spent over 2 decades coaching 8 and 9 year-olds at the Foxon Recreation Little League and was a past president of the Annex YMA. An avid Red Sox fan and follower of UCONN Women's Basketball, John rarely missed a game. He enjoyed many years of family vacations on The Cape. Loving father of Janet (David) Maruca, Jill (James) Cohrs, John (Davia) Napierkowski and James Napierkowski. Brother of Patricia D'Amico, Elaine Kavanaugh, Joseph and Jude Napierkowski. Grandfather of David and Kate Napierkowski, Haley, Kyle and Luke Maruca, Jianna and Jimbo Cohrs and Tyler Napierkowski.
Visiting hours will be held Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Lupinski Funeral Home, Inc., 11 Wooster Place, New Haven. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Blessed Michael McGivney Parish at St. Stanislaus Church Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum, North Haven. At John's request, in lieu of flowers kindly make memorial contributions to the West Haven VA Healthcare System, 950 Campbell Avenue, West Haven, CT 06516 or The Whitney Players Theater Company, PO Box 185644, Hamden CT 06518. I am so sorry to hear about John; My family goes back many years starting with my dad, Phil Casman and John's father-in-law, "Beans" Leary. and really the entire Leary family. John and Joanie were a wonderful couple and I think all the time about the wonderful times we had . Even though I have not seen him in many years I feel the loss.
