TSILFOGLOU, JOHN John Tsilfoglou, 86, of East Haven passed away June 23, 2015 at The Village at Mariner’s Point. He was the husband of the late Loretta Lampo Tsilfoglou. Mr. Tsilfoglou was born in Thessaloniki, Greece on May 29, 1929, son of the late Napoleon and Katerina Tsilfoglou. He came to this country in 1952 after serving in the Greek Navy. His love for the sea endured his whole life. His passion for always being near the water lasted until his death. A former resident of Fair Haven, he owned and operated New Haven Overhead Door Co.; the Fair Haven Marina for over 40 years and the Old Barge Restaurant along the river. He is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Tsilfoglou (John) Izzo of West Haven, Cynthia Tsilfoglou of Wallingford and Melina Tsilfoglou (Ava Wozniak) of West Haven; his sister, Sophia Stardellis of New Haven; his brother, Vasillios (Bill) Tsilfoglou in Greece; two grandchildren, Laura K. Izzo and Ronea L. Saunders, as well as nieces & nephews. Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Thursday from 4 to 8 pm and are invited to attend funeral services in St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Road, Orange Friday morning at 11:00.
