Josephine Daniels Obituary

Josephine Daniels
Josephine Daniels, 91, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2023. Josephine was born on February 18, 1932, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and immigrated to America in 1955. She worked as a nanny and at Southern New England telephone company in Connecticut before beginning a decades-long career with the Knights of Columbus in New Haven. Josephine retired in 1996. In her retirement, she enjoyed tending to her garden, baking Irish soda bread for holidays, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling and went on adventurous trips with her sisters, as well as trips home to Ireland to visit with family. Josephine held a passion for the arts and would share her love for movies and music with her family and friends. At family events, you could often find Josephine entertaining the children with her singing and dancing. She brought joy, love, and humor to every interaction and would light up a room with her smile.
Josephine is survived by her sisters, Patricia Bogan and Olive Poulton; her nieces and nephews whom she helped raise as her own, Margaret Maloney, Deirdre (Mark) Peterson, Sam (Denise) Daniels, and Ed (Peggy) Bogan; as well as many grand and great-grandnieces and nephews. Josephine enriched the lives of those around her and will be missed dearly. She will be remembered for her unconditional love and devotion to her family, especially to her nieces and nephews. Josephine was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary and Edmund Daniels; her sisters, Margaret Burns, Mary Green, and Anne Daniels; her nephew, Michael Burns; and her brothers-in-law, James Burns, Roy Green, and Anthony Poulton.
The family would like to thank The Linden at Woodbridge's Memory Care Unit, including all the nurses and CNAs for their tireless care and support for Josephine, whom they affectionately called Jo-Jo.
The visiting hours will be Wednesday morning, Sept. 20th from 10:00 to 11:30 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Church at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven, at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to The Linden at Woodbridge's Memory Care Unit, 330 Amity Road, Woodbridge, CT 06525. In care of Melissa Boyle, the general manager. www.northhavenfuneral.com

My condolences to the family

I work at the Linden at Woodbridge in the memory care unit, and was lucky enough to have Josephine on my daily assignment. She was beyond funny and would have us cracking up for hours, she loved to dance and when she wanted to be feisty she could be, but she would thank you and make sure to give you a hug and a kiss on the cheek for helping her after she gave you a run for your money. Josephine taught me a lot while caring for her, like how to be gracious, patient and most importantly how to love your family to no ends. I will cherish my time spent with her and I am sending so many prayers and love to her beautiful family that we will miss seeing at the Linden.

I will miss my Aunt Jo a great deal. Throughout my life, I've only ever met a handful of people as thoughtful, kind and selfless as she was. My heart goes out to my family in the US, who were there with her near the end. Love from Jon, Su & Mila.
