Joshua B. "Josh" Castellano, age 35 of Branford, formerly of New Haven tragically lost his life on September 17, 2021, in Las Vegas, NV. Beloved son of Denise Halliwell Castellano. Nephew of Charles Halliwell and Debra Vingiano, his "Aunt" Judith Benson. Also survived by his "brother" Casey Halliwell, his "sister" Michelle Keister and many other special cousins, friends who are part of his family and brothers and sisters of the New Haven Police Department. Josh graduated from Notre Dame High School, West Haven, Class of 2004. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University in 2011. In 2014, he entered the New Haven Police Academy, graduating in 2015. For the past 7 years Josh proudly served the New Haven Community as a police officer. His devotion as a police officer reached beyond the walls of the precinct. He was well known through many communities in New Haven. His classmates from the academy remain a part of his family.
The hours for visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Family and friends are asked to go directly to St. Mary's Church, 5 Hillhouse Avenue, New Haven Friday morning for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Grove Street Cemetery, New Haven. Josh will be the missing piece in our family. He was an amazing young man and his personality draw you to him. His humor left you smiling. I will miss my nephew and I will always hold him in my heart. My thoughts go out to both his parents, God Bless them, they will be in my thoughts and prayers.
