Judith Hongo Obituary
Judith S. Hongo, 82, of Derby, passed away peacefully at home on September 20, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. Born on July 6, 1939 in New Haven, to the late Alden and Mabel Smith. She was predeceased by her partner of over twenty years Peter Jankura.
Judy was a thoughtful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time near the water, especially at Savin Rock, which she visited throughout her life. She was loved by all for her honesty, integrity, and unconditional love. She enjoyed being with her family above all else, insisting on hosting the entire family every Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Judith leaves behind her children, Rhonda (Wayne) Hooper and Gregory (Christina) Vernon; grandchildren, Brooke (Matthew) Sager, Mirannda (Brian) Lambert, Kevin Hooper, Eric (Amanda) Hooper, and Christian Bender; great grandchildren, Aidan, Delilah, Jacob, Silas, Rosabelle, and Harper; brother, Roger (Karolyn) Smith; and many extended family and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on October 10, 2021 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. A Memorial Service will be held that day at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Toys for Tots online at https://www.toysfortots.org/donate/forms/tribute/ or Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
