VERAB, JUNE June Szirbik Verab 86 of Bethany, CT passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. She was born in the Westville Section of New Haven, CT on June 18, 1929, the last survivor of fourteen siblings and a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Farago Szirbik. June was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter S. Verab, Sr. and a grandson Forest James Verab. She leaves three sons, Peter S. Verab, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Woodbridge, CT, William (Bill) Verab and his wife Heather (deceased) and James (Jamie) Verab both of Bethany, CT. Also survived by eight cherished grandchildren as well as many more nieces and nephews. Predeceased by six sisters, Elizabeth Schetzel, Jeanne Clark, Irene Bacon, Margaret Jones, Rose Harrison and Alice Mulvey. Also predeceased by seven Szirbik brothers Stephen, George, Victor, Leslie, Alexander, Joseph, and William. June adored spending time together with family at her weekly Sunday dinners, and baking cookies for the holidays. She very much enjoyed flowers, bird watching and listening to her favorite songs by Anne Murray. She graduated from Commercial High School in 1947 and was a member of the First Church of Christ Congregational in Bethany. Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight), New Haven Monday morning at 10:15 a.m. Funeral Services in First Church of Christ Congregational, 511 Amity Rd., Bethany at 11:00.
