Katherine Beakey Casal, 84, of Madison, CT, formerly of Hartford and East Haven, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 21, 2025 after a long illness, cared for by her hospice team, memory care staff, and her daughter. Born and raised in Hartford, Katherine earned her Nursing degree from Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing and spent her life caring for others as a nurse, mother, and grandmother. She was a devoted mother to Lisa Bioty and proud grandmother to Isabella, Abigail, and Jaiden. Katherine loved animals-especially Labrador retrievers, cats and horses-enjoyed gardening, playing guitar, cheering for the Yankees, and attending fall fairs. She began a cherished family tradition of annual trips to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, which her family continues in her honor. She kept close ties with her cousins in Pittsburgh-Julie, Katie, Ben, Adelaide, Josie, and Rosie-whose regular FaceTime calls with her playful wit and flawless "Mother Pheasant Plucker" recitals brought joy and laughter. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Matthew, her parents, Josephine and Thomas, and her brother, Edward.
Family and friends are invited to a parlor service in the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven on SATURDAY afternoon, October 4, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. Inurnment will be private.
