Bocciarelli, Louis R.
Louis Richard Bocciarelli, 84 of Branford, CT passed away on December 9th, 2020 at the CT Hospice, Branford, CT. Louis, Alias "Big Lou", "The Silver Fox", was born in Goshen, NY to the late Catherine Viscido Bocciarelli and Louis A. Bocciarelli growing up in Monroe, NY. He met and married his high school sweetheart, the late Lucerna Emelia McLaughlin Bocciarelli. They moved to Branford, CT, raised their family and continued their life adventures. He was the father of Catherine Bocciarelli Brown (Edward) of Arlington, Texas, Louis A. Bocciarelli (Kathryn) of Griswold, CT, Peter Bocciarelli (Jean Estrom) Branford, CT, Clifford Bocciarelli (Patricia) Branford, CT. He is also survived by his sister Virginia Bocciarelli Cocks (Fred) of Monroe, NY. Lou was the proud Grandfather of Samuel, Henry and Jack Brown, Cole, Emma and Jade Bocciarelli.
Lou had many talents and leaves quite a legacy! He began his professional career as an engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft where he served as the lead engineer on the Black Hawk helicopter until his retirement in 1993. Lou was an avid Trap shooter where he won Championships in competition all over the United States. He was inducted into the Connecticut Trapshooting Hall of Fame in 1998. He was featured in American Rifleman Magazine in Trap and Field having had the honor of playing a tournament with Cat Fish Hunter on his squad. He has been a long standing member of the Branford Gun Club where he has enjoyed the company of all his "Buddies" and especially their Wednesday night dinners. Besides his love for building model airplanes and flying them at the flight field he longed for bigger adventure. So, at the age of 58, he earned his pilot's license and took to the skies.
He loved Music and Theater his whole life. He was a member of the Bell choir founded by his late wife, at the Branford Congregational Church. Over the years his beautiful tenor voice could be heard in the NYU Glee club performing at Carnegie Hall, singing as a member of the Men's Capella Cantorum and the Church Choir. His great joy was attending productions his children or grandchildren were performing in. He especially loved the NASCAR road trips and Thursday night dinners with his boys. A personality bigger than life, a smile that captured your heart and that robust laugh will always be in our hearts.
