We are saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and colleague, Maria. She was a tireless advocate for improving Connecticut's healthcare delivery system. We enjoyed working closely with her over the past few years and will miss her very much.
Our deepest sympathies go out to her family and friends.

Maria dedicated her professional life to perinatal women and their families. I first met her at the legislature when she was advocating for maternal child health program funding. Maria, we will miss you as a maternal child health leader in our state.

My condolences, Mike. You and your family were some of my biggest fans during Fall Ball in NH and eventually at Hamden Hall. It didn't go unnoticed. I'm so sorry Mike, Chris, Robin and the rest of the family. Prayers are with you.

Please accept our sincere condolences for Maria's family and for the many co-workers and community members who will miss her dearly. A champion, a leader and someone who inspired others, a powerful force. God bless you Maria and thank you for your wonderful spirit.

I began working with Maria in 2004 when I became Deputy Director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program at Yale Medical School. She was a strong advocate for our efforts to improve health through partnered action research between young physician researchers and community organizations. She was a wonderful connector who made things happen. I live in Colorado now so won't be able to attend the services for Maria but will be thinking of her today as the Health Department remembers her and on Friday for her services. I think all will miss her ability to raise important issues that need attention and her persistence in getting those issues addressed. Georgina Lucas
