Marion Cunningham Obituary

Marion B. Cunningham
1922-2025
Marion Cunningham of Madison passed away the day after 103rd birthday. She was a resident at Gladeview Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Old Saybrook since February 2025. Marion was born in 1922 to William and Dorothy Bell. In 1942 she married William I. Irving, a flight instructor in the U. S. Navy and they had two sons. They moved around the country some until William became ill and they settled in New Port Richey, FL. After his passing she and the boys moved to Madison where William was from. After years of being a single mom, she married Arthur Cunningham of Madison. Throughout her years she had a variety of pets with the last one being a fresh bird named Harley. There was always a dish of dog treats around for the four legged friends and a dish of candy for the two legged ones. Marion was a very independent lady and after Art's passing lived alone until she entered Gladeview. Until recently she could be found on Saturday mornings at the local tag sales looking for bargains. She did volunteer work for the fire department where Arthur was the Fire Marshall. Marion was a good seamstress and knitter and made caps for the premature babies at the hospital. Her neighbors and friends were wonderful to her and helped her when needed.
She is survived by William Seaman and Mary Means of Waterford, CT and St. Petersburg, FL and Peter and Nancy Seaman of East Haddam, CT, two grandsons and four great-grandsons.
