MARK WEINS Obituary

WEINS, MARK (MARCUS) Mark (Marcus) Weins, 56, of North Haven, CT, died in a car accident May 21, 2014, in Palm Coast, FL. Mark was born March 1, 1958, in Rock Rapids, Iowa. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Justi) Sheridan, and step-father, Thomas Sheridan; brother, Scott (Susan) Weins, North Haven CT; brother, Timothy (Romi) Brown, Maple Grove, MN; stepsisters, Kristin (Marshall) White, Deep River, CT & Beth Ann (Rob) Gaetano, Bethany, CT; uncle James (Debbie) Justi of Kinzer PA; and aunt Karen Roberts (Merlin) of Laverne, MN; seven nieces and nephews: Ryan, Margaux, Emily, Reed, Meghan, Jordan, and Grace. Mark graduated from North Haven High School in 1976 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Jacksonville University in 1982. Mark was best remembered as the welcoming face of his family owned business, the Rustic Oak. His beautiful smile, blue eyes, kind words and attention to detail made everyone’s experience at the Oak feel unique. Mark connected with people and always lit up a room. He was devoted to his family and many friends who are devastated by this sudden and tragic loss. Mark was a one of a kind personality who provided unconditional love that attracted everybody and made people from all walks of life feel special. Mark was a giver and a true friend. Mark had many passions: he loved the beach, the arts, his Alfa Romeo, MG, consignment shops and the Hamptons. Throughout his life, Mark resided in several locations, including New York City, San Francisco, the Hamptons and Jacksonville. Mark will forever be missed and loved by his hometown community of North Haven. Mark was predeceased by his father, Robert A. Weins, Eric Phieffer, grandparents Lawrence and Edythe Weins, Arthur and Gladyce Justi. A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at The North Haven Congregational Church, Oct. 18, 2014. In lieu of flowers, please send gifts in Mark’s memory to The Nathan Smith Clinic at Yale. So sorry to have heard of Mark's untimely passing. As a former classmate, I recall with fondness the generous graduation party he hosted, an invitation extended to the entirety of the Class of '76! Quite a gesture, and no doubt an example of his love for others. May he rest in peace.
