Merle Burack-Nero Obituary
September 14, 2025
Merle Burack-Nero, 77, of Ashland, MA, formerly of Hamden, CT, passed away on Sunday, September 14th, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Grace (Frankel) Sandler.
Merle spent most of her life in the New Haven area, where she built many dear and lasting friendships. She dedicated over 25 years to Crest Lincoln of Woodbridge. A proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, Merle found strength and joy in her recovery journey, offering guidance and support to others along the way.
Merle was a people person and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She enjoyed reading and gardening, but her biggest joy in life was her family. She had recently relocated to Ashland to be closer to them.
Merle is survived by her two sons, Josh and his wife, Aimie, of Ashland, MA, and Jesse and his wife, Angela, of San Diego, CA. She also leaves behind her five grandchildren: Madison, Lauren, Justin, Jayden, and Lexi. Merle is survived by her cousins, Karen Frankel Blum of Boston, MA, Kathie Frankel of Oswego, NY, and Bruce Block of Forest Hills, NY, as well as her companion, Abu Bakr of Hamden, CT. She was predeceased by her brother, Stuart Sandler.
The family will hold a private ceremony to honor her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Merle's memory, to a charity of your choice.

oh Meryl you will be so missed. Ours years as card guys women was fun when we made friends and tried to do our secret missions when things were not going your way. I loved your humor and your love of your family. i will miss your voice on my phone forever judy

Merle has been a true power of example to me for years. And it has been an honor to sit in the rooms each week with her. I loved her sense of humor and smile. She will be very much missed. I send my condolences to her family who she loved so dearly. Blessings to all. Rest in Peace beautiful lady.
