Michael Pantera Obituary
Michael L. Pantera, Ret. HPD, age 65, of North Branford, passed away suddenly August 2, 2022. He was born in New Haven on July 19, 1957. Mike is survived by his wife Janet (Toro) Pantera; daughters, Stephanie M. Pantera of Boston and Katelyn E. Pantera of North Branford; son Michael L. Pantera, Jr. of North Branford; his parents Vincent R. Pantera, Sr. and Catherine (Riccio) Pantera; brothers Paul D. Pantera and Vincent R. Pantera, Jr. and his wife Michele, all of Hamden; nieces and nephews Stephen, Matthew, Nicholas, Michael, Noelle, Lauren and Cameron; and his beloved furry friend, Chloe. Mike had been involved in his community through his work and leisure activities. Growing up in Hamden, Mike was active in multiple youth sports. He was a Tri-Captain for the Hamden High School football team and was also a member of the Hamden High School ice hockey team. He attended both Southern Connecticut State University and the University of New Haven, where he was a proud member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Mike recently retired as of July 31, 2022, after 24 years as a Policeman for the Town of Hamden. He always enjoyed reading, fitness, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends.
Friends may attend his funeral on Monday, August 8th at 9:00 a.m. from BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul VI Parish/Blessed Sacrament Church, 321 Circular Ave, Hamden. All may also visit with his family on Sunday, August 7th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will take place in All Saints Mausoleum, North Haven. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mike's memory may be made to the Mike Pantera Memorial Fund at https://www.gofundme.com/f/mike-pantera-memorial-fund?qid=e7734b164067e9298bd6f80e60dce58e.

We are all so sad of Mike's passing! He was a Hamdenite known for policing, football and hockey! He always had a smile when seeing him working on Whitney Avenue. My Dad enjoyed seeing him and had many talks at Quinnipuac and always commented on what a great guy Mike was. His legacy will live on in The Town of Hamden!

So very sorry to hear about Mike's untimely passing...just heartbreaking. Mike was such a great guy liked by all who knew him. Although I haven't seen Mike in several years, I always enjoyed Mike's company and conversation, especially during our high school days. Mike was an outstanding football player and teamate.
Reading Mike's biography its obvious that his dedication to service and community as a Hamden police officer, exemplified the highest standards of public safety, and he will be deeply missed by family, friends and the Hamden community. What a tremendous legacy. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

I would see Mile on his PD bike all the time and I would stop and talk about the old day at Hamden high school. He and his twin brother were born 10 days after I was born and I would always joke with him about me being older.
