Michael Anthony Riggione

RIGGIONE, MICHAEL A., JR. Michael Anthony Riggione, Jr. of North Haven, passed away on November 8, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Long Island, NY following a year-long illness. Mike was born April, 15 1944 in New Haven, a son of the late Michael A. and Mary Zullo Riggione, Sr. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the U.S. Air Force. Mike is the former owner of East City Remodelers which he operated as a general contractor for 10 plus years until he retired. Mike loved carpentry. He spent endless hours in his wood shop building toys, decorations and furniture for family and friends. He was an active member of the Northford VFW Post 8294, the Hamden Elks Club & American Legion and the East Haven Stoners Club. He spent many years participating in Veteran's Day, Memorial Day and community fund raising events. Mike assisted many of his fellow veterans throughout the State of CT. He was there to guide them and ease the transition back to civilian life. Mike is survived by his wife, Geralynn R. Marchesi of New York; two sons, Michael A. Riggione III and his wife Penny of Northford, Frank C. Riggione of West Haven, two grandchildren, Christina and Michael A Riggione IV, his three sisters Janet Riggione of East Haven, Linda Riggione of Washington, Phyllis Riggione-Lane and her husband Jeff of Massachusetts, 3 nieces, 4 nephews and 2 great-nephews. His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd., (Rte 80), East Haven Wednesday morning at 9:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 9:30. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call TUESDAY from 5:00-8:00 PM.
