Michael A. Wassell, age 78, of Seymour entered into his eternal rest at Griffin Hospital on April 22, 2025. He was the loving husband of Catherine Wassell for 49 years.
He was born on October 24, 1946 in Derby, son of the late Gilbert and Dorothy (Baclawski) Wassell. Mike graduated from Ansonia High in 1965. He served in the US Air Force from 1966 to 1969 as a jet engine mechanic in Vietnam and attained the grade of Staff Sargent.
Mike was President of Industrial Flame Cutting in Beacon Falls until his retirement in 2020. He was a member of the Ansonia Rod and Gun Club and a former member of Seymour Fish & Game Club, participating in many skeet and trap tournaments. In his early years Mike enjoyed hunting at Moosic Sportsman Lodge in PA with family and friends. In later years he took up fly fishing and enjoyed casting with friends in NY.
Mike is survived by several cousins and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all.
Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby on Sunday April 27, 2025 from 3 to 5 p.m. On Monday April 28, 2025 friends are invited to go directly to St. Michael's Church, 75 Derby Ave, Derby for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
