Monica Lee Judge
Monica Lee Judge, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and community volunteer, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, at the age of 74. She was born on July 15, 1950, in Arlington, MA, to the late Leo and Gertrude (Shippy) Moore.
Monica was a woman of deep faith and unwavering commitment to her community. She and her husband moved to Laurel Beach in Milford in 1978 to begin a family. After giving up a career in business to raise her children, she began a life of volunteering. In addition to serving at Saint Gabriel Church and School for over 20 years in various roles. She impacted many other local organizations including St. Andrews Co-Op Preschool, the Milford Council of Catholic Women, the Literary Center of Milford, and the Board of Managers at Laurel Beach. Monica's commitment to service extended beyond her church and local community. She was an active member of Iona University, serving as vice president and president of the Alumni Association and president of the athletics fundraising organization, the Goal Club, for several years. The athletic department and the University recognized her efforts over the years with various awards, including induction into the Athletics Hall of Fame and the University's most prestigious Legacy Award. She also dedicated her time and energy to Coaches Cure CF and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, working tirelessly to raise funds for a cure. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and community. Her unwavering dedication to helping others, her infectious smile, and her warm heart will be remembered by all who knew her.
Monica's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, John C. Judge, as well as their sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Katie, and Jay and Diana. Her beloved grandchildren, Caleb, Tyler, and Emma, also cherish her memory. Additionally, she leaves behind many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. Monica was preceded in death by her siblings, Terrence Moore and Karen Power, as well as her son, Thomas, and her granddaughter, Audrey.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University, where Monica received her double lung transplant, and Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC, where she received compassionate care in her final days.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Gabriel Church, 26 Broadway, Milford (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH).
