Orsini, Nicholas R. In Middletown, CT. September 29, 2012 Nicholas R. Orsini, 81, of Hamden. Husband of the late Eva Martha Geiringer Orsini. Loving father of Andrea Orsini of Whitestone, NY, Claudia Marcello and her husband Peter of Middletown, CT. and Peter Orsini of Las Vegas, NV., brother of Alba Manne, Ursula Zotti and Robert Orsini all of Rhode Island. Also survived by his cherished grandchildren Otto and Monica Marcello. Mr. Orsini was born in Providence, Rhode Island, June 18, 1931, son of the late Amedeo and Giaconda Orsini. Nicholas R. Orsini (1966-1992) Professor Emeritus of Art: Southern Connecticut State University, received his B.F.A. from Rhode Island School of Design, his M.F.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and continued his study with Frank Watkins while living in Florence, Italy for a year. He was a professor of art at several universities, including Auburn University and Centenary College prior to his appointment at SCSU. His exhibits include: Vanitas Series USC, LA; Drawing & Paintings Yale University; Contemporary Still Life, Gallery 49, NYC and was the author of the book, The Language of Drawing, published by Doubleday. He leaves behind a varied and massive body of paintings, drawings and sculpture which will find many future homes. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden. Family and friends may call Monday from 1 p.m. until time of service.
