Wright-Simmons, Otha MaeOtha Mae Wright-Simmons, 88, of New Haven, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017. She was born in Georgetown, SC to the late Herbert and Almena Rice Aklin on August 30, 1928. She worked in healthcare as a private home health aide. Otha leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Judith (Bernard) Wright-Scott; sisters, Edith Robinson, Ruby Bryant, Azelee Rawls, Lula Gore, and Edna E. Aklin; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband, Louis Wright, Sr. and second husband, Robert Simmons; sons, Louis Wright, Jr., Curtis Wright, and David Miller; daughters, Marjorie Wright Clemons, Jo-Anne Wright, and Gloria Martin; brothers, Willie Aklin, James Aklin, Herbert Aklin, Jr., and Leverne Aklin; and sister, Gladys White.A celebration of life will take place Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Varick Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 242 Dixwell Ave, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Thursday at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven.
