Pasquale G. "Pat" Tomaso

Pasquale (Pat) Gabriel Tomaso, 83, of Meriden passed away on October 30, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family after an inspirationally courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Barbara (Vizzo) Tomaso, daughters Vanessa (John) Bergevin of East Haven, CT and Andrea (Patrick) McCormack of Meriden, CT, and his four cherished grandchildren; Paul Bergevin, Danielle Bergevin, Joseph McCormack and Kristen McCormack. He is also survived by his sister MaryAnn Avigne of Meriden, CT and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Pasquale Tomaso, mother Madeline (Lucibello) Tomaso and sister Theresa (Tomaso) Rosario. Pat was born in New Haven, CT and lived in West Haven for 64 years before moving to Meriden in 2001. He was a Master Carpenter by trade and became an Elevator Mechanic in 1967 as a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 91 until his retirement. In retirement, he continued with carpentry and small construction jobs, offering help and advice to friends and family in need of assistance with home improvement/repair projects. He was always the "go-to guy" for advice and help when needed. He also used his craft to build furniture, doll houses and cherished pieces of work for his children and grandchildren. He adopted many hobbies including yard improvement projects, fishing, a fish pond, feeding birds and spent much time puttering about his yard. He was an avid Yankees fan and accomplished billiards player as well. Spending time with family and friends and, in particular, his grandchildren, was always on the top of the to-do list. He loved being a Pop Pop and excelled in that capacity above all other interests he had. He will always be fondly remembered by his family and numerous friends for his sense of humor, compassion and living life to its fullest.
Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday morning at 10:00 in the St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church. Interment will be private.
