I am so sorry for your loss and was so saddened to hear the news of Dicks passing. I have such fond memories of Rich Jr. and I, spending countless hours playing basketball with him on their driveway. I will never forget that generosity, his kindness, and patience. You are in my thoughts and prayers,

The majority of his fellow students looked up to Dick Ezold at East Haven High School. I was one year behind Dick and perhaps two to three inches shorter.
Dick was an outstanding basketball player for the Easties, a 6-foot-4 center who teamed up with my friend and classmate, Ralph Paolillo, to extend the Yellowjackets' three-season winning streak to a state-record 77 games. The streak came to an resounding end in the 1956 Class B state championship game at Yale's Payne Whitney Gym. Stonington High, led by the 38 points from the unstoppable 6-foot-7 Wayne Lawrence, edged the Easties, 62-60, before a near-capacity crowd.
In defeat, Ezold and his teammates played exceedingly well, and I was pleased to be there to witness this memorable game.
RIP, Dick Ezold.

Growing up, I always knew Mr. Ezold as "Uncle Richie" even though we were not related. He was such a kind, nice person who made people feel right at home. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
