Richard E. Niper, age 76 of Milford, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023. Richard was born in Bridgeport on July 1, 1947, to the late James and Mary (Titus) Niper. Richard proudly served in the US Air Force, earning the rank of Sergeant. He was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base, CA and Kimpo Air Base, Seoul, Korea. Richard worked at Raymark Industries with many of his family and finally Blase Manufacturing Co. before retiring several years ago. Richard was part of a close-knit family and his dedication to his sister, Lola Jane, was insurmountable to the end. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone.
Richard was an avid deer hunter; yearly family trips were always eagerly anticipated. He enjoyed family gatherings, coffee with Al, Sunday dinners, and a good screwdriver. Richard was loved by so many and gave us all memories to keep him close. Survived by two sisters: Lola Jane Wakeley of Milford and Diana Lee Flanagan (Daniel) of Nebraska; a brother: Allen Niper (Janet) of Milford; nephews and nieces: James Niper III (Carolyn), Susan Schmersal (Erik), David Flanagan (Sara), Allen Niper II (Stacy), Andrew Niper (Lauren) and great nephews and nieces: Luther, Logan, and Allen Niper III, Natalie and Emily Schmersal and Molly Flanagan. Richard is predeceased by his brothers: Luther Niper, HN, James Niper Jr., USN, twin Robert Niper, sister: Betty Lou Niper; brother-in-law Howard Wakeley; and nephew Luther Niper.
Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, September 2nd from 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 a.m. in THE GREGORY F. DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. Interment with full military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.
