Rita Pepe

PEPE, RITA F. Rita died peacefully in her home in Branford, CT on May 25, 2014. She is survived by her sons, Charles J. Pepe (Betsy) and Anthony C. Pepe; grandchildren, Anthony A. Pepe (Jennifer), Carrie S. Gallant (Steve), Erica Pepe, Theodore Pepe, Tara Pepe, and John Pepe; great-granddaughters, Cassandra and Olivia Gallant; brother Luke Camarota; sister Rose Marie Davis; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony J. Pepe; parents, Joseph and Frances Camarota; and seven siblings. Rita was born on July 6, 1920, in North Branford, CT. After high school she worked at the New Haven Clock Factory. In 1947 she married Anthony J. Pepe. Rita enjoyed walking, reading, cooking for her family and neighbors, and was the “matriarch” of her neighborhood. She was also an avid golfer, a member of Clinton Country Club and past 9-hole women’s champion. She was a long standing member of St. Mary Church in Branford. The family wishes to thank Rita’s caregivers at Yale New Haven Hospital, Grimes Center in New Haven, Connecticut Hospice and special caregiver Agnes Debrah. There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Mary Church in Branford at 9:30 on Friday morning.
