Robert Granoth Sr.

GRANOTH, ROBERT JEAN SR. Robert Jean Granoth, Sr., 82, of West Haven, beloved husband of Judith Gullen Granoth, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, died suddenly, Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Yale New Haven Hospital, after being stricken at home. Born in Waterbury, June 23, 1931, he was a son of the late Gustave and Jeanette Perreault Granoth. Bob served as an Addiction Counselor for over 30 years, first with the Shirley Frank Foundation for 10 years, and subsequently at Veterans Medical Center, West Haven for over 20 years. He enjoyed camping and deer hunting, and was an avid fly fisherman. He loved the New York Yankees and as a dedicated, active member of AA, he helped countless others in their struggle with addiction. Besides his wife Judith, he is survived by four sons, Robert Jean (Ellen) Granoth, Jr., of Naugatuck, Eric (Susan) Granoth, of Cheshire, Karl Granoth, of PA, Robert John (Cathy) Granoth, Sr., of West Haven: four daughters, Renee Abell, of FL, Lynn Ann (Ralph) Ord, of PA, Kristin (Franco) Guerrera, of Watertown, CT, and Hiedi (Alan) LaGasse, of Waterbury, CT. Also surviving is one sister, Delores Kean, of Naugatuck, 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a very dear, long-time friend, Marcellus Teel, of New Haven. Bob was predeceased by his brother, Ray Granoth. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Vianney R.C. Church, Tuesday morning at 11:00. Burial will be private.
