Dear Dick (Westie),
My sister, Meg, is living in Madison, and was kind enough to send your Dad´s obituary to me. He was a remarkable guy and as my best friend´s father had quite an impact on my life trajectory.
Sailing. he introduced me to sailing. Years ago as I had neither his engineering discipline , nor his tool inventory we purchased a Laser. This was a reasonable facsimile of his Sunfish.
I always wanted to fly and admired his WW II European service in the Army Air Corp.
After consulting with him I enlisted in the Naval Aviation program and served there. He told me how excellent my training would be. He also noted that unlike the Army´s tents Naval aircraft carriers had staterooms for officers, hot meals and dry bunks. Which all turned out to be correct.
Finally on this a "short list" of attributes he and your Mom, Marie were my best friend´s parents.
I am amazed that he was 100! And if my math is correct he had a productive working career well into his 80´s.
Another fine representative of the "greatest generation."
My Dad passed away many years ago. I still miss him and actually appreciate him more each year.
Blessings to you and your family.

Rest in peace Bob with your beloved Marie. How I wish that my cousin Rick and I had made the connection that we were related in time for us to visit more often. Regretfully, Nettie
