Robert “Bob” Lewis Hill, of Fairfax, VA, died peacefully on April 9, 2023. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Marcia Norcott Hill. Bob was born to the late Mordecai and Texanna Corinne (Hardy) Hill on February 23, 1934. He is predeceased by his four elder siblings: Curtis Mordecai Hill, Charles Kenneth Hill, Lucinda Hill, and Clara Hill Wiggins. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Spartanburg, SC. He enlisted into the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and he was honorably discharged in 1956. He moved to New Haven, CT where he earned a BA degree in Upper-Level Education in 1960 from what is now SCSU. While matriculating there, he met a fellow student, Marcia Norcott. They fell in love, married, and produced three children: Allison Elizabeth Hill (deceased), Robin Lindsey Hill of Alameda, CA, and Dr. Lisa Beth Hill (Atty. George Lyons, Jr.) of Fairfax, VA. Bob considered his firstborn granddaughter, Bethany Byrd-Hill (Silas Moulton) his own baby girl. He is the father of one son, Morris J Pleasure of Wales, UK. Bob had numerous career achievements and personal highlights in his long and wonderfully blessed life. He enjoyed several rewarding careers including educator, veteran rights advocate, corporate executive, and eventually retired as President of the American Association of Blacks in Energy. He was recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential Black Men in America in 1994 and is listed in several editions of Who’s Who in America. He considered his family his greatest achievement and said the most awe-inspiring event of his life was meeting Dr. MLK, Jr. on the Selma to Montgomery March. He was a faithful member of two churches, Dixwell Avenue Congregational UCC, New Haven, CT as well as Peoples Congregational UCC, Washington, DC. Bob was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Alpha Omega chapter, Washington, DC, The I.B.P.O.E. (Elks) Club of New Haven, CT, and various other social and professional organizations. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, April 17, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Dixwell Avenue Congregational, UCC, 217 Dixwell Ave., New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call on Monday at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Hamden Plains Cemetery, Hamden, CT. Services by Howard K. This is truly a sad day. Little did I know 20-something years ago when I first started working for Bob as his assistant that our personal relationship would last this long after our professional one ended with his retirement. Bob and I still spoke a few times a year, especially on his birthday as I never missed the opportunity to call and say happy birthday and make sure he was doing alright. Although I will miss our conversations, I find comfort in knowing that he is in a better place reunited again with his beloved wife. To the family, I wish you peace during this period of mourning, know that you will always have a special place in my heart.

My family and l extend our heartfelt condolences. As Mr. Hill´s barber, l would like to express that He was more than client, but a warm and kind spirited gentleman. He shared so much information with me during times of getting his haircut. Mr. Hill supported my business of transitioning from the barbershop to becoming a mobile barber, and l thought is was good for the both of us. Whenever he would call, l was glad to accommodate him and Mr. George for haircuts. I appreciate the conversation that we had between the two , and l´ve always left away with something to value and treasure.
Mr. Hill will be truly missed .

I will miss my Godfather, Uncle Bob. Our families did so much together growing up. I think of you, Uncle Bob, and Aunt Marcia with such loving memories. Uncle Bob passed one year and 4 days after my Dad. I pray they have as much fun together in heaven as they did on earth.
