Ronald Mazzacane Obituary

Ronald Edwin Mazzacane
October 19, 2022
The life of Ronald E. Mazzacane is a beautiful story of a generous man with great knowledge, skill and determination, respected by many.
An only child born in 1937 to Dominic and Bianca Capasso Mazzacane, he would go on to live 85 action-packed mission-driven years. Half of his life would be spent with his loving wife, business partner, beachcomber and confidante Rosalyn Cama, where they would reside in Guilford and Madison, Connecticut. Architectural preservationists, they would restore and preserve historic Queen Anne Victorian income properties on Audubon (Arts District) and Academy Streets (Wooster Square) in New Haven, design and build a Shingle Style home in the downtown village of Madison and most recently invest in a Mid-Century Modern icon on Grass Island, Guilford designed and built by friend and colleague Vincent Amore, AIA.
Ron attended Hopkins School and the New England College of Pharmacy (Northeastern University). A licensed Pharmacist, he practiced in New Haven at Mazzacane's, Tower's and Beirne's pharmacies and on the Shoreline at Monroe and Yankee Pharmacies. In 1983 and over the past 40 years he would support Roz in establishing and growing CAMA, Inc., a burgeoning healthcare design field he selflessly shared with her, but also participated in her profession. Simultaneously, he would begin a transition in his own career first as a Real Estate Agent with the DeWees Agency and then as a Real Estate Broker at Coldwell Banker and recently with William Pitt Sotheby's International Real Estate. For twenty years he would own and operate Mazzacane & Associates dba Coldwell Banker Coast & Country Realty, an independent franchise in the Strawberry Plaza in Guilford. He would say "I do not sell houses, I improve lifestyles." It was his mission-driven consciousness to institute an internship program educating and mentoring some of the most successful real estate agents in the marketplace today. He was generous with his knowledge, publishing biweekly columns in the local papers known as "Real Estate Facts."
Ron loved high performance, particularly in his 1962 Corvette. Racing was his release. First Alfa Romeo automobiles and later Hobie Cat Catamarans. He competed in Hobie Cat Fleet 136 with his beloved 18' "Red Rooster" locally, regionally, and in the San Diego National Championship, gaining a spotlight in the legendary film "Sharing the Wind." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_rfKUE675Y
A man with intense concentration, he led his life as he raced, with course-plans that were clearly charted. If he found himself off-the-mark, he adjusted his sails as he did so masterfully in sailboat racing. He leaves behind many trophies, including the Madison Cup for sailing and Top Producer for real estate sales.
Beauty was woven throughout the theme of Ron's life. He loved God's creative life patterns and believed in sustainability. In 2011 he was invited to an important conversation with Roz & her colleagues at the Cultura Council of the Vatican to discuss "Beauty."
Ron and Roz welcomed many into their "Mazzacamacane" home, a place to share camaraderie, good cheer, and build lasting friendships too many to mention. Including Father Ryan Lerner who will celebrate his Christian Burial. Ron leaves a family that loves him immensely and will miss his kitchen table wisdom including nieces & nephews, (cousin Donna's daughter) Micah Mazzacane (Andrew) Notarianni, (in-laws Fran & Greg's daughters) Elizabeth Guidone, Sarah Guidone (Ryan) Kulesza, and grandnephew Westin Kulesza. (In-law Tom's son) Thomas Paul Cama, (in-law John & Marylou's son) John (Katie) Garvin.
(Sailing regatta mates the late "Wild Thing" Joe & Fran's daughters) The Triple J Manganello sisters, Jennifer, Julie and Jamie, the Garvin Point sailors including Team Red Rooster, summer student Yuliya Molash (Belarus) and most recently aid Justin Ondabu (Kenya) all grew into family spending time with Uncle Ronny.
Special thanks go lovingly to Peter Herbert, MD for his love, wisdom and remarkable care, Kelly Goddard for her personal support, Carol Mancini for her most recent real estate partnership.
Ron Mazzacane's personal story ended on October 19, 2022; his beauty, however, lives on in the love and knowledge that he invested in so many.
Those he loved are invited to calling hours on Monday, October 24 from 4 – 7 pm at The Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church, 1331 Middletown Avenue, Northford, CT on Tuesday, October 25 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Avenue, North Haven, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald Mazzacane Real Estate Internship Fund, New Haven Middlesex Realtors Foundation, 2730 Boston Post Road, Guilford, CT 06437.

What an interesting life with much achievement. Mazz was an old schoolmate at Union School in West Haven. He was the "richest" kid in our class but not spoiled at all. Generous and kind. When he moved on to Hopkins we were all disappointed. May he RIP.
