Sandra Milles, age 90, born Sandra Faith Cohen longtime resident of Orange Connecticut more recently of Hamden, CT died on Friday, January 26 at The Whitney Center of natural causes. Born in Borough Park New York. A graduate of Brooklyn College she was a first-grade teacher in Rochester New York before moving to Connecticut to start her family with her beloved and devoted spouse Dr. Saul S. Milles.
Sandra was active in and passionate about many local organizations- Brandeis Women's organization, Long Wharf Theatre and The Orange Public Library, to name a few. She loved to sing and to dance with friends-paint and draw. She was a cherished mother and grandmother and is survived by her children Doug Milles and Maura Milles Karen Milles and Mark Gottfried and Beth Milles and grandmother to Zack and Nathan Milles and Jeramie and Caleb Milles Robinson.
Funeral services will be held at Congregation Mishkan Israel, 785 Ridge Road Hamden CT at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 28 (followed by a private interment in New Jersey on Monday).
Shivah will be held at the Whitney Center hosted by the family at The Whitney Center at 200 Leeder Hill Drive in Hamden on Sunday evening at 5:30- 7:30 p.m. (on Monday evening 7-8:30 p.m.) and also (Tuesday afternoon 2 -4 p.m.). The Robert E. Shure & Son Funeral Home, New Haven is in care of Arrangements.
