Saundra Bialos passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in Seattle, Washington, after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born to Grant and Dellafern Thomson and grew up in Niagara Falls, NY.
Sandy was an example of the best in humankind. She will be remembered by countless for her genuine care, sympathy, support for her friends, lifelong and new, her family and her patients.
She attended Alfred University School of Nursing, followed by graduate work at Yale University where she was an active alumna and was later Chair of the Board of the Yale Alumni Association. She was the first woman ever elected for this position. In 1996 she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from the Yale School of Nursing.
During her second year at Alfred, she met Donald Bialos. They married in December of 1965. They settled in Madison, CT where they raised a family.
She worked as a steward of the land through years on the board of the Madison Land Trust. She helped countless individuals in therapy through her practice.
She is survived by her husband Donald; her sons, Michael and Jeffrey; her daughters-in-law, Rebecca Welch and Marilina Kim; her sister and her husband, Linda and Richard Bleichfeld; her nieces and their respective husbands, Sarah Bleichfeld and Adam Short and Hannah and Erik Haddad; her grandnephew, Connor Haddad; and her brother-in-law and his wife Jake Bialos and Stefanie Levinson.
